Choosing the right knitting needles for each project before you start can impact the quality of the project at the end.  Here's a few tips to help you choose the right needles.

1. Consider the materials that the needles are made from;  Wood, metal,bamoo or plastic.  This comes down to preference and how they  feel in your hand.  Plastic needles tend to be very popular and inexpensive.

2. Pay attention to the size of the needle recommended for the specific project.  You will save a lot of heartache down the road if you just begin with the right needle for the project.

3. Remember that the thicker the needle, the thicker the stitch.  If you want nice, small stitches, choose a needle that is thinner.

4. Since knitting needles last a long time, invest in good ones.  They truly do make a difference.

Remember that it's time to replace your needles if they begin to warp or the ends become dull.
