I am a fan of the Bernat Beralla 4 for afghans, but my daughter asked me to make her a bright colored blanket. She picked colors from the Caron Simply Soft Brites. I was happy with the end results. It is an inexpensive yarn, but it held together well and had quite a nice texture. It is very soft, almost silky. I've now used it for both knit and crochet projects. I am confident in saying it would be soft enough for baby blanket use.

It actually is very soft. I had doubled-up the yarn to make a watermelon-colored scarf, and it remained really soft.
